This artwork was inspired by the two mystical Himalayan peaks of Kedarnath (also known as Kedarnath Main) and Kedarnath Dome (also known as Kedar Dome), which are located in the Gangotri Group of peaks in the Western Garhwal Himalayan Range, near the Mandakini River in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. An ancient Shiva temple is located here, and is open to the public from April to November due to extreme weather conditions. The painting depicts Kedarnath in daylight, and the blue colour of the mountains accentuates the divine nature of the location.
This relief painting was handcrafted using multiple layers of modelling clay on foam board and finished with a passe-partout, matt glass and a wooden frame.
