The Ramakien, a Thai retelling of the ancient Indian epic the Ramayana, tells the story of the love between the monkey god Hanuman and the golden mermaid princess Suvannamaccha, the daughter of Thotsakan (also known as Ravana). Initially ordered to destroy the bridge that Hanuman was building to Lanka, she eventually helped him after falling in love with him. Their union resulted in the birth of their son, Macchanu.
This relief painting was handcrafted using multiple layers of polymer clay on an aluminium composite panel and baked for strength and durability.
